Innova EVO, it’s grain free, the meat content is high, there is whole eggs and a good variety of fruits and veggies, my dogs love it and it makes them look great.
Kibbles ‘n bits. My doggy loves that stuff =)
ive never tried dog food, sorry.
I have used Science Diet for years, and my dog does very well on it.
it depends on what kind of dog it is i have a australion sheperd, two chiwawas (one that i plan to breed) and a native american indian dog. the ozi (austailain sheperd) is a little over weight so we use ulra for both the two big dogs. it seems to be the best diet dog food for both non dieters and dieters.
You need to research ingredients in dog food. The first ingredient should be a meat source…preferably actual meat (not chicken by-product, chicken meal or chicken digest..it should say CHICKEN). Corn should NOT be in the first five ingredients. Few foods are high quality. Innova, as someone mentioned, is a good food. Eagle Pack is also a great food. You must look at the ingredients!!! Corn and grain are fillers and do absolutely nothing for your dog. Kibbles n’ bits is crap. Science diet also isn’t that great- it is promoted by vets because their one week of nutrition in vet school is sponsored by this company. In all honesty vets know nothing about nutrition…if you are lucky enough to have a vet who recognizes and understands animal nutrition– keep this vet!! They have done a lot of research on their own so they could benefit from knowledge that wasn’t paid for by a pet food company.
You may also want to consider feeding RAW, which is the healthiest way to feed your dog, or cooking homemade meals for him. RAW is the best way to go and has many wonderful benefits. It’s not very hard either (just a little confusing at first). There are many great sites on feeding raw, just google it. There is a pretty good Yahoo raw feeding group as well.
If you can buy it at a grocery store, it’s NOT a good food!! That is the golden rule!
The dog foods that you find in the grocery store or at Wal Mart are not good foods. Science Diet is an over priced bad dog food that vets sell, they must get a kick back on it. The best dog foods are what they call the premium dog foods. Check the ingredients label…the first ingredient should be some kind of meat, like chicken, beef, fish or turkey. There should be no grains like corn gluten, wheat gluten, they are empty fillers, cheap fillers, with no nutritional value. Premium dog foods have human grade ingredients no chicken or beef gross by products and no grain fillers. I feed my dogs Solid Gold. Other premium dog foods are Wellness, Evo, Innova, California Natural, Natural Balance and there are many others. The internet will help you immensely on deciding which brand you want. Hope this helps, and I hope you feed your dog only the best!
My dogs eat Chicken Soup For The Dog Lover’s Soul and just love it. I did a lot of research before switching to Chicken Soup and it has very high quality ingredients and is pretty reasonably priced for a premium dog food. I get a 35 lb. bag for just over $30. A friend of mine whose dog has allergies feeds Timberwolf and the allergy problems have all gone away. It costs a bit more than Chicken Soup, but you’ll find that with a premium dog food, you’ll feed less because the food is much more nutritious.
I feed my guys BARF (Bones And Raw Food) the food I use is Mountain Dog Food. Its not very expensive and wonderfully healthy.
Any brand of dog food that contains healthy ingredients and no fillers such as wheat gluten, corn gluten, soy or rice protein concentrate is a safe place to start. Foods that you will find that are good nutrition and safe from recall will be holistic foods and there are several that are good.
My choice is Life’s Abundance for two reasons: one it is human quality-nutrient dense-no fillers and the company uses all U.S. vendors for its ingredients plus it has all the right balance of what your dog needs. Second it ships direct to your door-so it does not sit on pet store shelves-and the quality control of this company is excellent-it is very fresh.
I have been feeding it to my three dogs and one cat and have had great results and they love it.
See link below as it can only be bought online.
Good luck with your choice but please concider health and nutrition over price as in the long run you will be doing your pet a favor and spending less at the vet as you will have a healthier pet.
