Stop giving him human food period.Buy a good bag of dog food and put it down on floor if he doesn't eat it pick it up after 15 minutes.Keep doing this till he figures out that this is all he will be eating.Look into Merrick pet food.It is human grade. The dry food you mix with warm water. It makes it's own gravy. It looks like people food too.

Stop with the human food completely - and start a timer when you set down your dog's bowl of food. If he doesn't eat within 2 minutes, pick it back up. A healthy dog will not let himself starve, though he will do *everything* in his power to make you believe that he is. Whatever you do, don't cave in to the big puppy eyes, the pathetic I'm starving! behaviors, or the chorus of violins....Stick to your guns. He will eat eventually - and it's good too for you to not make a fuss about this either.
Many people cook for their dogs, but take care to not include harmful ingredients to dogs such as salt. Here's a book that you may want to read:

Garlic is not good for dogs-it is TOXIC.
Raw bones is fine! No raw chicken bones and some human food okay too. Just mix up some human food with a good brand of dry food and slowly reduce the human food.

Aw your husband and son don't like your cooking?! I bet that's not true, I bet you cook fine! I would just put out dog food for him and when he begs for human food just give him a piece or two of the dog food instead. Then he will get use to it and may stop begging so much, and regain the taste for dog food.

Believe me...it is a dog and when hungry will eat anything...it will not let itself starve. Just make sure noone is giving him people food and he will be back on dog food in no time.

Feed your dog a few scraps on the dry food, then phase that out. I always feed my dogs after my husband and I have eaten...Pack leaders eat first. Then after you eat, feed the dog. The dog will be salivating after smelling what you ate, so he will probably eat without much prompting. I had to retrain my dogs also. Just feed them at the same time everyday, if possible. Then pick the food bowl up off the floor when they finish. Leaving the bowl down all day is what spoiled my pets. It may take him a few days, but I promise you he will eat when he gets hungry, no matter what it is!

Just put his food down, after a few hours, take it up, and nothing til the next day. Do not give in to the begging!!!!! the next morning put his food down for him, after 2 hours take it back up, again in the evening. The dog will not starve himself, no matter what he tells you!! By day 3 , he'll eat.

Fill his bowl with dry dog food, then when you and your family eat DO NOT give him scraps at the table. Instead, put the scraps on top of his food, then mix it in with the dry dog food. That way he will have to eat the dog food to get to the tasty table scraps. Keep doing this and you will modify his behavior. Dogs always want to eat someone else's food first before they will go to their boring old bowl of Purina.
