yeah thats fine
just dont give dogs chocolate!
its like poison to them
its fetal
We don’t give my little guy much as far as the people food goes, but we were told as long as it never made up more than 10% of their daily food intake (and it’s not the no-no people foods) they should probably be okay.
It depends. It’s ok to give them treats sometimes. Never give your dog anything with sugar in it. (I think the poster above meant fatal not fetal.)
It’s OK as an occasional treat- but if you give it too often they will start begging for it- it can become a bad habit after a while.
Human food is just fine once in a while. You just want to ensure you aren’t promoting begging from your dog AND you need to be sure you aren’t giving them something that can harm them such as chocolate, grapes, onions etc.
It should be. Just never give her any sweets, no candy or anything. Fruits, veggies, meats and soups/broths are all great.
NO, human food/table food is not good. It creates begging, not wanting to eat their food, and is not good for them with the salt, fats, and several things are toxic to them–pork, ham, bacon, bbq, macademia nuts, grapes, chocolate.
There are vitamins and minerals that they need in their dog food.
I have heard some food is okay as long as it doesn’t have a lot of fat or sugar and never chocolate. My local humane society handed out recipes for homemade doggy biscuits and it uses home ingrediates like peanut butter and garlic.
I feed my dog human food all the time. For Six years. I think you should be ok.
i think u should stop
No chocolate, it can kill them! I give mine pieces of cheese…
I cook for my dog homemade diet of organic meat and rice and vegetables. It really depends of what you are feeding it. There are foods that the dog absolutely can not have
The idea is to select easily digestible foods such as cooked rice,
boneless and skinless chicken or turkey, small bits of string cheese and well-cooked hamburger. Dogs love their fruits and veggies, too, so feel free to up their vitamin count with traditional canine favorites like carrots, apples and green beans.
Be careful when it comes to fatty meats and spicy foods. These can result in an upset stomach, so it’s best to avoid them. Never offer your dog or cat bones, as they can cause digestive digestive problems and damage the teeth and mouth. Absolute no-nos include onions, coffee, tea, chocolate and grapes or raisins, which can be toxic to dogs and cats.
Its perfectly ok!Just no sweats,no chocholate,etc.
I hope this answered you qeustion!
I had a spaniel that got almost all of the table scraps on a daily basis he lived 18 years. The 2 small dogs I have now get meat once a week or so, and nothing fried or overly fatty.
It is fine but don’t over due it, The contents are a lot higher in fat and trans fat then dog food, But chicken is good to feed your dog as a treat and if you go online you can find a recipe for all natural dog food and it is the best out there that you can make at home. Cherry’s, blue berry’s are off limits they have to much acid in them and will upset there belly.
my dogs are like vaccuums, it’s fine and they say chocolate can kill a dog, well my dogs can prove that theory false. one whole bag of oreo’s and one whole bag of hershey kisses. and they are still kicking
i would think but not to much because it would keep begging for it but i had a dog and i fed it a little bit of leftover sloppy joe and it threw up.
Sometimes dogs and cats become allergic to ‘pet’ foods so their human cooks have to start cooking for them. Cooked rice and hamburger or boiled chicken is common if they’re not allergic to one of those things. It’s best to try to leave out the salt or any seasonings. Too much salt is as bad for a dog as it is for humans and some seasonings can actually be harmful. Do not feed dogs or cats food with a lot of onions in it. Onions are natural blood thinners and can create a problem if the animals bleeds. My aunt always fed her Dalmatian a bowl of oatmeal every morning. Oats are good, the sugar/sweeteners aren’t. NEVER give your pets fake sugars. I can’t eat them either but they really can’t eat them.
raw meat is best for any dog.
I have to agree with doglady… the few things you could give her that would be alright/healthy for her, is just not worth the potential problems that could develop from doing it. Let’s face it, dogs like yummy food just like we do. But most of our food is either unhealthy for them or downright toxic. So it’s understandable that they would prefer ours to theirs, will start begging, not eating their own food, etc. It’s just a problem you don’t want to start with. Having said that, I know it’s EXTREMELY difficult not to want to share your goodies with her~you love her want to spoil her a little with treats, I fight the same thing! But you can give her treats specifically made for dogs. You’ll know that they’re safe (there are a LOT of people food that shouldn’t be given to animals… you’d be surprised! Check it out on the Humane So. web page.) You don’t want to kill her with kindness, so I would stop giving her people food. Just make sure you have some doggie treats around to give her so you can still spoil her a little! Trust me, this is definitely a case of ignorance is bliss! If she doesn’t know what something tastes like, she’ll be a lot better off in the long run.
it is VERY ok to give ur dog people food, just not the kind of food that can kill ur dog.
think about this, ur a dog who eats nothing but the same thing over and over and over and over and OVER again?
when you finally get something new in ur food, its like heaven sent! its really good to change their food every once in awhile
but make sure u dont change it EVERY week cuz that can cause tummy probs
Sure, its fine within reason of course. Dogs can’t eat certain foods because its toxic to them. Chocolate is a common one but I have read of some other foods that are surprisingly toxic.
Our dog has a treat of people food a couple of times a week and does fine. Also, if possible, I adapt a portion of our meal to fit within her diet so she can enjoy it with us.
I’ve included a link below of foods that dogs shouldn’t eat.
Best of luck.
My dogs, all three of them, have a very balanced diet and part of that diet is to get the scraps, whether that be the bones, the pasta or the veges… They consider it a real treat to get any left overs and sit patiently waiting for us to finish the meal to see if they get to share.
In response to ZoeBabyy’s statement about chocolate.. I think you meant it’s fatal hun, not fetal. last time I checked they didn’t revert to embreyo’s when eating chocolate.
And on that point. I had no idea it was poisonous until a little while ago, and I guess someone forgot to tell every single dog I have ever had since I was born which number 13! Wow, I can even remember their names – tiny, titch, rusty, prince, tinky, phaedra, madeah, samson, worf, obi, laea, tiggy, sasha and have never had any problems. So I did some research – here we go
The truth is chocolate contains theobromine that is toxic to dogs in sufficient quantities however you would have to feed your dog a fairly large amount of theobromine, the equivalent of 100-150 mg to each kg of animal weight to cause a toxic reaction.
On average milk chocolate contains 44 mg (.002oz)of theobromine per oz, semisweet chocolate contains 150mg(.005oz)/oz and unsweetened chocolate 390mg(.014oz)/oz. of Theobromine.
This means that my dog Sasha would need to ingest 525 mg (.019oz) of theobromine – as she weighs only 3.5 kgs (7.7lbs) – to be fatal and based on the above scale she would have to eat the equivalent of around 340gm (12 oz) or more of solid milk chocolate at one sitting to be fatal…. that is a lot of chocolate!
In fact a family sized bar is approx 230gm of solid chocolate (depending on the make), not mars bars, or snickers or anything that bulks up the chocolate with other sugary goodness, but solid bars of milk chocolate. And even I can’t do that, let alone Sasha.
So I guess that is why I never lost a dog due to chocolate poisoning. It is a treat that my dogs get once in a while maybe once a month if they are really lucky. So, my dogs are safe and they are still getting their chocolate treat on occasion and now without the worry that I may be killing them. But just remember that dogs are pigs, if they get to the chocolate on their own, they will wolf it down. make sure it is a treat and keep it locked away and they will be okay!!!
no you must only feed dog food we tried once to feed our dog human food but it died
