Yes, I mean petstores, I would never buy the crap found at stores other than pet stores.

Most vet clinics will sell quality canned food through their office. You should ask yours.
Wal-Mart and most grocers don’t carry good quality pet food because they need to keep their own costs down by only purchasing cheap stuff to stock.
The best you can buy in a supermarket nutritionally is Purina. Iams is also a good one.
Purina and Iams are good. I’ll give you a tip about dry dog food too real quick. Look at the ingredients and if the first one is meat – then it’s a good dog food. If the first ingredient is ground yellow corn, then it has a lot of fillers. Of course, the one with meat as the first ingredient is always more expensive though.
I haven’t done store bought canned in forever but when my family had a doxy we used alpo canned and that can be bought at wal-mart, target, any grocery store.
There are lots of good dog foods available at large pet stores. Look for something with meat as the main ingredient. The first ingredients listed on the label are what the food contains the most of. Their should not be any grains in the first three ingredients at least. Dogs/Wolves do not eat corn, soy and wheat in the wild. It’s also good to stay away from animal by-products. If you’re shopping at the grocery store, the best food I’ve found is Purina ONE. I would not buy any other Purina however. There are a lot of better foods then ONE though. Below is a GREAT site about how to rate your pet food:
By stores…can you please mean Pet Stores?? Anything sold at Target, Walmart and grocery stores contain lots of corn and meat by products (heads, beaks etc.)
I usually do all my shopping at Petco as it is convenient to my house
AND they have a program with their food, every 11 bag is free
SO – the best wet, canned, dog food I can suggest from Petco or Petsmart would be WELLNESS – it is spendy – but high high HIGH quality ingredients! Another one is Blue Buffalo which may not be sold everywhere, I know they sell it here in Oregon, but not in Arizona….and my last choice would be Nutros Ultra line…I have used all three, but with my dogs allergies, we have to be VERY Particular….
Good Luck!
theres purina lams..

To find the better quality foods, only a handful are available at stores like Petco and Petsmart. You’ll have better luck shopping at holistic pet food stores, pet boutiques, farm feed stores, and small locally owned petstores.
.
High quality foods to look for: Innova, Wellness, Solid Gold, Canidae All Life Stages, Fromm Four Star, Merrick, GO Natural, Nature’s Variety Prairie, Nature’s Logic, Artemis Fresh Mix, Timberwolf Organics.
Some good grainless diets include: Innova EVO, Wellness CORE, Blue Wilderness, Nature’s Variety Instinct, Orijen, Horizon Legacy, Merrick Before Grain, Canidae Grain Free All Life Stages, Fromm Surf Turf, Now! and Sold Gold Barking At The Moon, Taste of the Wild.
Some pretty decent foods can even be found in common pet stores. Petsmart carries Blue Buffalo products (such as the excellent grain free diet Blue Wilderness). Petco carries Wellness, Solid Gold, Natural Balance, Eagle Pack Holistic, Blue Buffalo, Castor Pollux Organix, Pinnacle, and Halo. If you can’t find a food, most of the high quality food brands have websites with store locators on them.
