Nutro isn’t a good dog food. It got recalled with the other low quality grocery store foods.
Good ones are Innova Evo, Canidae, Solid Gold, or Orijen. If you switch her to one of these super premium foods, she will probably return to a healthy weight, because their aren’t any fillers. They cost a bit more, but you pay less day by day because your dog will eat much less.

Seven definatly isn’t old (and I don’t believe in Senior foods), so start exercising her again. Get her teeth cleaned, and make sure to brush them at least twice a week. If she is having joint problems, I suggest a natural supplement.
After you feed her a quality food, you may notice her looking worse off. This is due to Detoxing, and can happen because you are switching from a low quality to a high quality food. Don’t worry, after a week or two, she will start having energy, be happy, and look great.
I like Nutro. I use the nutro lamb and rice formula. If you do change over, make sure you do it gradually, mixing it in your dogs normal food gradually adding more nutro.
Wellness or Canidae.. Feed ONLY what the bag says.. Make sure that she gets good exercise and lots of fresh water.. If she is still chunky after you are feeding quality food, cut it back a little til she loses what you figure she should lose.
Well, the only thing that will really help her teeth is for you take her to the vet, they will scrape the tarter and plaque off her teeth and clean them. There is a doggy tooth brush and toothpaste that is safe for you to use on dogs.
I have to clean my dogs teeth because he’s part poodle, and they have bad teeth. I want him to keep his teeth as long as he possibly can.
I don’t think the tarter control food will help, any dry food scrapes against the teeth like any other. Get her some good chew bones. This helps keep my dogs teeth clean. There are tons of different kinds and flavors, my dog actually prefers the plain white non flavored raw hide bones or squares.
Innova or Innova Evo are you best best. All natural, no additives or allergins. Their site even has a store locater where you can find a store that sells it in your area. I listed the site below.
Especially if your dog is that old, you definately should not switch their dog food. It will make her sick, and she will vomit and get a stomach ache. Unless you mix the new food with the old, and put more new food and less old each time to get her used to it, do not switch. And I recommend Purina.
I’d go with Innova, Evo, California Natural, or Pinnacle. Nutro isn’t the worst food out there, but it’s pretty bad.
Evo might give her the kick in the booty that she needs. I know that Evo has a reduced formula called, TAH-DAH, RF (lol). The higher protein content wakes some dogs up and gets them going again.
As far as her teeth, you need to start brushing them and bring her in so that they can get cleaned.
Innova or Solid Gold.
By far THE BEST on the market.
Id suggest an all raw diet. This will serve to both melt the weight right off your canine friend, but also eliminate the need for costly and dangerous dental procedures. Its a win/win situation!

Nutro’s a good brand, but I would suggest stepping up to the Natural Choice line, which is better than the Max line. I wouldn’t mix the foods, because if she happens to have an allergy to one, you’ll have to figure out which one it is. Start with either Natural Choice Adult Dental Care or Natural Choice Adult Lite.
Just so you know, none of the dry kibble, treats, or biscuits by Nutro were involved in the food recall, and the ingredients are all natural and easy for dogs to digest. It is a high quality food, and the Feed less, shed less, clean up less promise they promote is the truth.
Here’s the website so you can check out more types of foods:
